Our client is a global asset manager with offices in multiple jurisdictions. They offer a pragmatic value approach across long only and long-short strategies (currently ~A$10bn AUM). They aspire to grow client wealth over the long-term by generating absolute returns in excess of the benchmark at below market levels of risk. We are seeking to appoint a junior to mid-level trader join the team based in Sydney. The successful candidate will transact in global markets across a range of investment securities including equities, FX and derivatives.
We would ideally be keen to hear from individuals with between 3-5 years’ trading experience garnered from another fund manager, Investment Bank or trading platform. Candidates will have a sound understanding of financial markets, data and data providers (Factset, Bloomberg) and be able to transact in global markets across a range of investment securities and whilst there is a strong focus on equities, experience working with equity derivates and/or FX would be highly desirable. You will have a natural ability to problem solve and be able to work well under pressure with excellent attention to detail. Proficiency with delivering data and analysis through Microsoft Excel, in conjunction with Microsoft power query engine and/or experience in VBA and Power BI would also be viewed favourably, as would familiarity with Python or R. Mandarin language skills would be desirable but not essential.
Alongside the required practical experience, we welcome profiles with a natural curiosity and passion for financial markets and fundamental investing in general. You will be a team player and have the ability to absorb significant amounts of information, assess, and utilize multidimensional thinking to provide solutions to these problems in real time. Well-developed communication skills both written and verbal are a must. Flexibility with regards to work hours to assist in covering global markets will be required for this role.
