Our client, a distinguished global asset management firm with over four decades of experience and a proven track record managing substantial assets worldwide, is actively seeking a Senior Business Development Manager for their Melbourne team. As a Business Development Manager (BDM), you will take on a vital role in servicing both new and existing Wealth clients, contributing significantly to driving growth and fostering enduring relationships. This opportunity is ideal for a dynamic and results-driven sales professional eager to join an organization renowned for its excellence in investment management.

In this position, you will lead sales activities, collaborating closely with the client services team, and effectively communicating the fund’s investment strategies to the market. Your responsibilities include assuming ownership of business development and relationship management for the largest wealth clients in Melbourne, including brokers, wealth management firms, dealer groups, and other intermediaries.

Key responsibilities encompass: identifying and cultivating new business opportunities within the wealth management sector across the southern region, building and nurturing relationships with wealth clients, leading and maintaining research house and consultant relationships, educating clients on capital markets and investment theory, demonstrating sound investment acumen and credibility, and representing the company at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.

Qualifications and skills required for this role include 5+ years of previous distribution/capital raising experience, ideally from funds management. A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field is mandatory, with an MBA, CFA, or RG 146 being a plus. Proven experience in business development within the asset management industry, focusing on wealth clients. An established network within the wealth management sector across VIC and the southern region. Strong understanding of investment products, financial markets, and the ability to demonstrate technical investment acumen. Excellent communication and presentation skills are necessary, with the ability to convey complex investment concepts clearly and compellingly. Being results-driven with a track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets, the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global, dynamic, and fast-paced environment, and a willingness to travel as needed are also crucial.
