Investment Analyst – Opportunistic Private Credit Fund

Private Debt and Special Situations
Sydney
  • Ideal for candidates seeking experience in special situations investing
  • Opportunity to join a growing, opportunistic private credit fund
  • Flexible, sector-agnostic investment mandate with a solutions-focused approach

Our client is a middle-market, opportunistic private credit fund managed by a team of high-calibre investors. With $1 billion in assets under management, they offer a range of investment solutions through a mix of wholesale and institutionally backed funds.

The firm operates a sector-agnostic, flexible mandate, covering both corporates (including resources) and real estate. Investment decisions are thoughtful, and the portfolio composition, from a sector perspective, depends on market opportunities. Typical ticket sizes range from $50–100 million and are mostly senior secured, with some capacity to invest through mezzanine and preferred equity positions. The target return for the funds is in the low double digits.

Due to continued growth, the team is seeking an Investment Analyst to support their expanding funds under management. The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of experience in investment banking, a private credit or private equity investment role, or within active corporate M&A teams. A strong understanding of company valuation and a genuine investor mindset are essential. The successful candidate will be motivated, possess a keen interest in special situations investing, and demonstrate initiative and the ability to work autonomously.

The Investment Analyst will be responsible for initial deal screening, financial modelling, due diligence, and credit paper writing. You will also assist in portfolio management and other general tasks to drive outcomes within the portfolio. Over time, you will be involved in presentations to the Investment Committee.

Throughout the interview process, candidates will be assessed on their deep understanding of value drivers in companies. You must also effectively convey your motivations for transitioning into or continuing within private credit.
