We are working with a leading global equities long/short manager, seeking an enthusiastic and analytical Investment Analyst to join a specialist Infrastructure/Industrials focussed team. The team is dedicated to identifying and investing in companies across a range of industries, including Infrastructure, Telecom, Property, Hardware, Industrials, and Commodities. This will also involve companies that are driving the transition to Net Zero/Decarbonization. We are open to speaking with potential profiles with specialised and generalist backgrounds and sector experience.

As an Investment Analyst, you will play a crucial role in the investment process, conducting in-depth equity and industry research to uncover compelling investment opportunities. You will work closely with experienced portfolio managers to develop investment recommendations and contribute to the overall success of our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive equity and industry research across Infrastructure, Industrials, and related sectors
  • Analyse financial statements, valuation models, and other relevant data to assess investment opportunities
  • Prepare detailed investment reports and presentations for portfolio managers and investment committees
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and macro-economic factors
  • Contribute to the development of the team’s investment strategy and risk management framework

 

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a minimum of 2 years’ experience in roles such as an Investment Analyst or a similar role within investment banking, equities research, private equity or industry. Additionally, candidates should hold a CFA Level II designation or demonstrate equivalent work/study knowledge in financials and public company disclosures. Proficiency in financial modelling using Excel, including the analysis of financial statements and valuation, is a key requirement. The candidate should also exhibit expertise in at least one of the following data analysis tools: Python, SQL, R, Microsoft Power Query, or Microsoft Power BI. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with a passion for buy-side equities investing, particularly in the infrastructure and industrials sectors. A proactive “can-do” attitude, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team are crucial. Moreover, candidates should be open to learning new analytical approaches and coding languages as necessary for the role.

The ideal candidate should possess experience with Bloomberg Terminal or other financial data platforms, showcasing a proficiency in navigating and extracting relevant information from these tools. Additionally, a solid understanding of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) investing principles and methodologies is highly desirable. The candidate should also demonstrate familiarity with current trends and developments in the infrastructure and industrials sectors, illustrating a nuanced awareness of the factors influencing these markets. These skills and knowledge areas not only complement the core requirements of the role but also underscore the candidate’s ability to engage with and analyse financial data comprehensively while aligning with evolving industry standards and sustainability considerations.
